Job description

OVERVIEW Merrick & Company is seeking Chemical Process Engineers for our Aiken, SC office. The ideal candidates will have a passion for nuclear related design and problem solving. On a case-by-case basis, Merrick offers a hybrid work environment with the flexibility to work from home and in the office. Annual salary range for this position is $108,500.00 - $132,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience. WHAT YOU'LL DO A Process Engineer will work primarily on cutting edge nuclear related projects. A successful candidate will be placed in a key engineering role, working within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers to execute design and engineering on various projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Analyzing equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine appropriate designs. Prepares and oversees the preparation of process design deliverables including: Process Flow Diagrams Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams Detailed piping drawings, including plans, elevations, and isometrics Orifice, relief valve, and equipment sizing calculations Equipment and Instrument datasheets Equipment Heat Transfer Analyses Evaluation of vendor submittals for selection of instrumentation and equipment. Reviews and checks the work of other process engineers to determine accuracy, completeness, and compliance with procedures. Coordination of design inputs and design activities with other engineering disciplines in a team environment. Ability and desire to lead a team of Process Engineers and Designers, work as the Process Lead on projects. Able to handle multiple projects/tasks at the same time. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) / Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program Must have a minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years related experience and/or training. Experience in Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear projects is a plus but not required. Experience Designing to ASME B31 piping codes including specifications, drawings, and calculations Candidate must be capable of and willing to obtain a Q clearance. Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required, or candidate is expected to attain PE at earliest opportunity. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
