Job description
Overview GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking an AEM Solution Architect to work in a REMOTE capacity. As an AEM Solution Architect, you will be responsible for assessing and guiding the future state of a highly customized Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service implementation, including defining sustainable support models, governance, and architectural direction. Responsibilities Lead platform assessment and architecture review of the current AEM as a Cloud Service implementation, identifying risks, over-customization, and opportunities for simplification and stabilization. Define support model and transition strategy, including internal, contractor, and vendor responsibilities, and required future-state roles. Provide architectural leadership across AEM tools including Sites, Assets, Forms, and related components. Translate business requirements into scalable technical architecture, workflows, and content models. Establish governance frameworks, standards, and guardrails to ensure long-term platform supportability and alignment with best practices. Guide development teams on security, performance, code quality, and enforcement of development standards. Identify documentation gaps, establish standards, and lead knowledge transfer from vendors to internal teams. Serve as a strategic technical advisor to leadership, translating complex architecture into actionable guidance. Evaluate vendor performance and contribute to contractor scope, accountability, and technical expectations. Surface platform risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs to support informed decision-making. Collaborate cross-functionally with product, UX, engineering, and operational stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications 8–10 years of experience in enterprise content management, digital platform architecture, or related fields. Deep hands-on expertise with Adobe Experience Manager across architecture, implementation, and support. Strong knowledge of Java, Sling, dispatcher, and front-end integration. Experience assessing complex, highly customized enterprise platforms and identifying supportability risks. Experience working with vendor-built systems and evaluating transition readiness. Proven ability to develop technical assessments, support models, and documentation strategies. Strong written communication skills, including creating executive-level assessments and recommendations. Experience with collaboration and delivery tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, or Azure DevOps. Experience transitioning platforms from vendor-led to internal or hybrid support models. Experience establishing enterprise platform governance, including customization standards and change management. Experience contributing to technical procurement efforts, SOW development, or contractor role definition. Experience supporting large-scale public-facing or government digital platforms. Familiarity with AEM as a Cloud Service operations, including Cloud Manager, deployment pipelines, and DevOps practices. Understanding of AEM security models and accessibility requirements.
