About the role (your why) This is an opportunity to contribute to how councils engage their staff and serve their communities, using intelligent, AI‑enabled products to redefine everyday work. As a senior developer in the Datascape platform team, you will have a key role in building the core “engine” of the product – ensuring the foundations are sound for our rapid growth. You’ll help guide the technical direction, using modern technology, and embedding agentic AI practices in our product development SDLC. You will be part of the experienced, talented Datascape platform team, based in Auckland or Tauranga . We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. What you’ll do You will be part of a team owning the design and development of the technical platform for Datascape. The platform is agnostic of particular customers and jurisdictions, but provides the foundations or engine that allows other Datascape teams and customers to configure solutions. The platform team is responsible for evaluating, selecting, and standardizing AI technologies, frameworks, and platforms and assisting the uptake of these across the wider Datascape team. You will create design patterns, best practices for AI solution delivery, conduct technical reviews and provide technical governance across product management, engineering and consulting teams; and collaborate with product owners and engineering leads to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs. You will design data architectures that support AI workloads—ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval—establish and champion engineering standards for AI quality, testing, security, and observability. What you’ll bring You are an experienced product developer who has built complex, enterprise‑scale platforms and knows how to deliver performant, resilient, high-quality systems at scale. You’ve likely built and evolved products in regulated or mission‑critical environments, and are comfortable balancing customer outcomes and technical realities. You bring a strong grasp of modern AI assisted product development — through discovery, design, build, operations, and continuous improvement. You know how to make technical trade‑offs, delivering what’s needed while managing technical debt. Required experience: 5+ years’ experience in a senior developer role Experience with React, .NET, C#, Entity Framework, SQL Server, Azure. Experience with agentic AI development practices. Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering or related discipline. Commitment to quality, customer satisfaction and outcomes. Nice to have: Experience building SaaS products with a leading product vendor. Experience in the Local Government sector, or sectors with similar financial and regulatory requirements. Strong front end skills (React, Lit, HTML, CSS, Figma), experience using a design system. Experience with automated testing techniques (Playwright). Experience with cyber-security best practice, responsible AI, data privacy, and ISO compliance. Why join us here at Datacom?
