Title:
Principal Construction ManagerKBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.
KBR is looking for a Principal Construction Manager to provide leadership and management oversight of multidisciplinary construction and technical teams on large, complex projects exceeding five million construction work hours. The role is responsible for planning, execution, and control of construction activities while maintaining alignment with project objectives and client expectations.
The Principal Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing all construction operations on major capital projects, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality and contractual requirements. This role provides strategic direction to project teams, serves as a primary point of interface with clients and engineering partners, and ensures constructability and execution excellence from project definition through closeout.
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Leads and supervises project construction teams, ensuring effective execution of work in accordance with contracts, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Oversees contractor methods and sequencing to confirm efficient, safe, and compliant execution of works.
- Embeds constructability principles into engineering and execution plans and collaborates closely with engineering teams to resolve design and field issues.
- Observes site conditions to identify potential design changes and coordinates resolution with the Registered Engineer.
- Acts as the primary liaison between the client, engineering firm, and contractors, serving as the central communication channel on all matters related to construction delivery.
- Interfaces directly with client representatives and delivers executive‑level updates on progress, risks, and performance.
- Prepares executive reports and establishes project progress reporting systems to track schedule, cost, quality, and safety performance.
- Manages construction resources, budgets, and supports contract negotiations and administration.
- Ensures timely provision of information required for procurement of prime cost items.
- Maintains detailed records of contractual issues or disputes arising from interpretation of contract documents, supporting resolution and continuous improvement for future projects.
- Implements and enforces the company’s Safety Policy, identifies hazardous conditions, and ensures appropriate corrective actions are taken to protect personnel and assets.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (required).
- 15+ years of progressive construction and project delivery experience, with an average of approximately 20 years of industry experience on large, complex capital projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading major construction programs, managing multidisciplinary teams, and interfacing with senior client and contractor stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, commercial, and decision‑making capabilities.
