Job description
Position Purpose:
Our client is a leading technology provider for private banking and wealth management, serving financial institutions across Europe and Asia. They are expanding their Singapore development centre and seeking Integration/Middleware Developers to join their financial messaging and integration team.
You will work on critical integration layers connecting core banking systems with external payment networks, market data providers, and client-facing applications.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop integration solutions connecting banking systems with external networks
- Build and maintain message-driven applications using IBM MQ (WebSphere MQ) and WSO2
- Implement financial messaging standards including SWIFT (FIN/FileAct/InterAct) and ISO 20022
- Develop APIs and data transformation services for system interoperability
- Work with payment networks (SIC/EUROSIC, SIX) and market data feeds
- Troubleshoot integration issues and optimize message processing performance
- Collaborate with business analysts to understand requirements and translate to technical solutions
- Document integration patterns and maintain technical specifications
Technical Requirements:
Required:
- Strong Java development skills with Spring Framework
- Experience with message queuing systems (IBM MQ, Kafka, or similar)
- Understanding of XML/JSON processing and data transformation
- Experience with RESTful and SOAP web services
- Familiarity with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, DB2)
- Knowledge of integration patterns (EAI, ESB concepts)
Nice to Have:
- Experience with SWIFT messaging (MT/MX formats)
- Knowledge of ISO 20022 financial messaging standards
- Familiarity with WSO2 or similar integration platforms
- Experience with GTExchange, SAG, or other banking middleware
- Understanding of payment processing workflows
- Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Preferred Background
- Experience in banking, financial services, or fintech is preferred
- Understanding of trade finance, payments, or securities operations is a plus
- Experience with financial messaging networks (SWIFT, SEPA) is highly advantageous
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for financial data exchange is beneficial
