Job description

The Griffith Graduate Research School (GGRS) is the dedicated point of contact for all Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates and governs the strategic direction for the HDR agenda at Griffith University. The GGRS works closely with academic and professional areas in maintaining quality standards of HDR recruitment, admission, candidature management, education and examination. We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient HDR Progress and Completions Support Officer to join our team.

The focus of the HDR Progress and Completions Support Officer is to provide administrative support and advice in the areas of Higher Degree Research candidature progress and completions to a wide range of stakeholders across the University, including HDR candidates and academic staff.

The position will report to the HDR Operations Team Leader (Progress & Completions) and will work within the Griffith Graduate Research School.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create, process and manage data and information using various student systems ensuring, data integrity and accuracy always.
  • Assist in the coordination and administration of the entire thesis examination process from submission through to award.
  • Assist in the coordination and administration of candidature milestones.
  • Provide timely written and oral advice to clients on systems, policies and procedures pertaining to thesis progress and examinations and Higher Degree Research more broadly to inform a range of internal and external clients.
  • Troubleshoot and provide assistance to internal and external clients regarding all aspects of the online thesis examination systems.
  • Provide assistance to other areas across the Griffith Graduate Research School to meet high workflow demands as required.

About you
The successful candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification and subsequent work experience or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.

You will also have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to high‑quality customer/client service.
  • Demonstrated experience in higher education administration, preferably within higher degree research administration.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Well-developed computer literacy skills, including the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technologies.

What we can offer
This is a full-time, continuing position primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan) or Gold Coast.  As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full-time base salary for a HEW Level 5 is in the range $82,415 - $92,456 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. The total package is in the range $96,426 - $108,174 per annum.
