Job description
Research, define, clarify and capture all materials data required for the fulfilment of product regulatory compliance customer responses, through direct drawing research and interaction and research with relevant internal and external stakeholders (Engineering, Sales, Marketing and Operations, and suppliers).
Responsibilities:
- Supports Product Regulatory Compliance (PRC) customer responses and SalesForce PRC Customer Service Tickets received
- Research, Identify and capture per Product Regulatory Compliance Specialist direction materials used to produce all Interconnect products
- Work collaboratively the wider organization (Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Qualification Test, etc.) to identify all materials used to manufacture Interconnect products
- Be knowledgeable in and able to proficiently access Glovia, PowerBI, PDM, Omnify, Shared Drives, Team sites, and external to Interconnect supplier material knowledge resources to support the full capture of materials data required to successfully complete PRC customer requests.
- Actively manage knowledge in area, enabling each new material to become core, and be understood by the wider organization
- Participate and contribute to team training, development, mentoring and audits
- Provide technical support to organizational stakeholders (Production, Quality, Marketing and Sales)
- Provide technical support to external stakeholders as needed (customers, supplier partners)

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Materials, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree preferred, but will take 5+ years drawing review and data capture experience with Interconnect-systems-specific knowledge.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and understand, and correctly capture material data from engineering drawings, schematics, and digital files
- Knowledge & experience of 3D modeling using drawing and simulation packages, preferably SolidWorks, Windchill, etc.
- Knowledge of material & regulatory requirements across Smiths Interconnect EU product lines is desired
- Knowledge of at least one of main markets industry specifications: Aerospace, Space, Defense, Medical, and Semiconductor Test, advantageous
- Second language proficiency in French, German, or Italian would be desired.
Planning and Decision Making:
- Critical focus is daily delivery of completed Bill of Materials review and materials capture for each SalesForce PRC Case assigned to this role
- Must maintain an unbiased view and be ready to shift priorities to approaches with a higher likelihood of success
- Analyzes and resolves work problems and/or assists others in solving work problems
- Relies on extensive Engineering experience, analytical capacity, problem solving skills/tools and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Impact and Scope:
- Contributes to Functional KPI goals
- Responsible role for delivering the data necessary for PRC team to achieve KPI goals; this role is critical to overall PRC takt times and meeting goals.
- Collaborates across multiple sites and geographies
- Some travel may be required for training and/or other business purposes including external partner and customer visits.
Key Internal and External Relationships:
- Be able to contribute to cross-functional teams in technology development cycle
- Interface with customers & supply chain during the development cycle
- Be able to train Internal and External stakeholders on our processes

- Ability to communicate written and orally in the English language
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (less than 5% if ever)
- Ensures department compliance with company environmental, health, safety and security policies.
- Understands export control, fair trade and anti-bribery/corruption law.
