Job description

Overview The Senior Technical Trainer is responsible for leading complex training initiatives across WMS implementations and system transformations. This role assists the manager of training with the design of scalable training programs, mentors other trainers, and ensures training strategies align with operational and program objectives. The Senior Technical Trainer also assists with training governance, evaluates training effectiveness, and partners with leadership to improve system adoption across the network. Responsibilities Training Strategy & Program Leadership Lead training for large or complex WMS implementations Supports in defining training frameworks, standards, and methodologies Assists with establishment of scalable training models such as train-the-trainer or superuser programs Determines utilization and validates documentation through testing systems. Align training plans with project timelines and operational readiness goals Complex Implementation Training Own training for multi-site implementations or complex implementations Serve as the primary training lead for major system rollouts or process transformations Partner with program leadership to ensure training readiness before go-live Identify training risks and mitigation strategies Technical Writing: Develop SOPs, work instructions, and other documentation. Report training metrics related to systems training, such as satisfaction, completion rates, learner retention. Advanced Content Development Assists with Designing structured WMS training programs and learning paths for various operational roles Standardize training documentation, templates, and delivery approaches Drive improvements in training tools, simulations, and digital learning assets Training Effectiveness & Continuous Improvement Establish metrics to measure training success (e.g., adoption, process adherence, operational impact) Evaluate training outcomes using frameworks such as the Kirkpatrick Model Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve training quality and effectiveness Support with training and qualifying super-users in the field. Maintain and continuously improve the training program and resources. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications. Leadership & Mentorship Mentor and guide Technical Trainers in training development and delivery Review training materials for quality and consistency Provide coaching on facilitation techniques and operational training approaches Process Governance & Operational Excellence Lead process audits during go-live and stabilization phases Identify systemic process gaps impacting WMS adoption Partner with operations and Superuser teams to drive process improvements Provide reporting on training readiness and adoption Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, adult learning experience or similar degree required. 7--10 years of experience in warehouse operations, WMS, or supply chain systems training Strong understanding of warehouse processes (receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, inventory) Demonstrates strong facilitation skills, both in the classroom and virtual environments. Demonstrates intermediate skills in all phases of instructional design/delivery (ADDIE). Demonstrates working knowledge of e-learning development software and learning management systems. Ability to manage time, projects, and priorities. Has a high level of attention to detail, quality, and customer focus. Strong written and oral communication skills, experience in communicating effectively with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to travel up to 75% to warehouse sites during implementations We are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $65,395.20-87,193.60 CAD. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, targeted at 5%.
