Job description

  • Conduct fitness assessments and create personalised workout plans tailored to individual guest and member goals
  • Lead one‑to‑one and small‑group training sessions, ensuring correct form, technique and safety
  • Motivate and support guests throughout their wellness journey, offering encouragement and accountability
  • Educate guests on exercise principles, healthy lifestyle habits and general wellness guidance
  • Monitor client progress and adjust training programmes as needed
  • Deliver fitness classes and complete gym inductions for new members
  • Carry out prospect tours and support membership engagement
  • Promote and upsell Personal Training services as directed by the Recreation and Spa Manager
  • Maintain a clean, safe and luxury‑standard gym, pool and wellness environment
  • Complete two‑hourly water quality checks and report any out‑of‑range results
  • Ensure towels, equipment and poolside areas are tidy and well‑presented
  • Manage changing rooms to ensure cleanliness and guest readiness
  • Enforce club rules to maintain a safe and orderly environment
  • Record pool usage levels and monitor non‑usage, contacting members where required
  • Complete opening, closing and daily check sheets in line with SOPs
  • Manage towel stock levels and record usage as required
  • Handle reception duties, including money handling, in accordance with SOPs
  • Collaborate with other wellness and spa professionals to enhance the overall guest experience
  • Stay updated on current fitness trends, research and best practices
  • Demonstrate Fairmont Cheshire The Mere values through professionalism, passion, consistency and teamwork
  • Follow all Health & Safety, emergency and reporting procedures
  • Maintain professional appearance and behaviour in line with company standards
  • Attend required meetings, training sessions and development courses

Please note that we believe in flexibility and multi-skilling, and you may be asked to do different tasks from time to time to enable us to meet the needs of our guests and colleagues.

  • 1–2 years of experience in a fitness, wellness or luxury health‑club environment (preferred)
  • Recognised fitness qualification (e.g., Level 2 Fitness Instructor or Level 3 Personal Trainer)
  • Strong knowledge of exercise science, wellness principles and safe training practices
  • Confident in delivering one‑to‑one coaching, group classes and gym inductions
  • Excellent communication and guest‑service skills, with a warm and professional manner
  • Ability to motivate, support and inspire guests on their wellness journey
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, luxury hospitality environment
  • Knowledge of pool safety, water testing or lifeguard training (advantageous but not essential)
  • First Aid certification (preferred)
