Job description

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations,

ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting financial reporting processes.

This role plays a key part in maintaining compliance with accounting standards and

improving internal controls, while also mentoring junior accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS)
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to

inquiries

  • Monitor and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making
  • Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and regulatory reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • 4–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior or supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Working Conditions

  • Typically office-based or hybrid work environment ( 3 days a week on site )
  • May require extended hours during financial close periods or audits
