What We Offer Position Details Role: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Department: Med/Surg 3 – 9th Floor Shift: Day Shift, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm Status: Full‑Time Location: Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH NHRMC), Wilmington, NC Med/Surg 3 is a dynamic adult inpatient unit caring for patients with a wide range of medical and surgical needs. Clinical experiences on this unit include: IV therapy Wound care Ports and G‑tubes Dialysis patients Occasional stable tracheostomies Our team partners closely with local Primary Care and Specialty Providers to improve communication, streamline discharges, and reduce readmissions through strong, collaborative relationships. What You'll Do Provide direct patient care under the direction of the RN Assist with treatments, procedures, and care coordination Accurately document patient care and communicate changes in condition Support patient education and promote safety and comfort Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and interdisciplinary team members What We're Looking For Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of accredited Practical Nursing Program Experience: One year of relevant experience, preferred. Licensure/Certification: Appropriate state LPN license, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required. CPI certification within 3 months of hire for Behavioral Health departments, required. Additional Skills (required): Computer skills, Phone call etiquette and Organizational Skills Ability to comprehend policies and procedures and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Behavioral Health units' requirements only Ability to intervene in a therapeutic manner for behavior patterns demonstrated by patients with a mental illness, personality disorder, substance abuse or developmental disabilities. Knowledge of psychiatric medications, side effects and treatment interventions, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, mental health concepts, and evidence based therapeutic interventions and treatments. CPI certification within three months. Ability to establish and maintain control of violent patients, defend self and others against violent assaults, ability to react appropriately in psychiatric crises, ability use violent and non-violent restraints per policy and procedure.
