Job Title: Engineering Lab Tech
Reports to: Director, Engineering
Department: Engineering
Work Model: Full-time, On-site – No Travel Required
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm
Job Summary
The Engineering Lab Technician evaluates essential electronics technologies employed in the development of the company’s products and product families. This role supports Systems Architects and Systems Engineers by conducting performance testing related to functional, environmental, mechanical, or software compatibility. Responsibilities may include researching or collecting data to support technical development, fulfilling customer documentation requests, and assisting with community training initiatives.
Essential Functions
Support the design team in selecting components that fulfill program requirements
Assist with systems integration activities in benchmark testing, while providing backup for requirements validation testing as needed
Manage laboratory inventory of commodities acquired for testing purposes, including motherboards, processors, heatsinks, memory, and storage devices
Offer troubleshooting support for Operations or Technical Services on behalf of Systems Engineering when necessary
Ensure the laboratory is maintained in a clean and organized manner
Contribute to data mining efforts to aid proposal generation and customer communications as appropriate
Strive to achieve zero OBFs in the execution of assigned job responsibilities
Lead configuration discussions with clients, balancing guidelines, feasibility, performance and tradeoffs to support informed approval decisions
Evaluate customer requirements and recommend exceptions or custom solutions when standard configurations do not fully meet needs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Candidates should possess comprehensive knowledge of computer hardware and components
Possess a solid understanding of server development, integration of relevant technologies, and strategies to optimize solutions for customer needs
Ability to accurately interpret computer screens, blueprints and technical drawings
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively support and collaborate with both customers and internal teams
Required Qualifications
Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person”)
Associate’s degree in computer technology or a related field, or evidence of advanced technical expertise and strong enthusiasm for technology in lieu of degree
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional exposure to manufacturing floor and testing environments. May require lifting up to 25 lbs, standing for extended periods during product testing, and occasional travel (up to 25%).
