Job description

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

We are hiring a Director of Engineering for the Application, Cloud and Offensive security teams in the Security Engineering organization. Snowflake is the AI Data Cloud powering enterprises worldwide to store, process, and build intelligent applications on their most sensitive data. As AI has become more deeply embedded in what Snowflake and its customers do, the threat landscape has evolved at the same pace. This Director role was created directly in response to that convergence: a wide mandate with real influence across three security pillars and the visibility to shape how one of the most consequential technology platforms in the world stays ahead of emerging threats.

AS A DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL

  • Define and execute the security strategy across three core pillars: application security, cloud security assurance, and offensive security (including the red team program), setting direction and driving measurable outcomes across all three pillars.
  • Build and develop a high-performing security engineering organization, hiring top talent and creating a culture of rigor, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Drive the offensive security program including red team operations, adversarial simulations, and proactive threat modeling to stay ahead of emerging attack vectors in an AI-accelerated threat landscape
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and infrastructure leadership to embed security into Snowflake's AI products and cloud architecture from the ground up, not as an afterthought
  • Own the cloud security assurance function, ensuring Snowflake's cloud environment meets the security standards expected by enterprise customers and regulators worldwide
  • Translate security risk into business impact, communicating program status, emerging threats, and strategic priorities to executive stakeholders with clarity and confidence
  • Influence company-wide security posture through cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Compliance, Trust, and the broader CISO organization

OUR IDEAL DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING, PRODUCT SECURITY WILL HAVE:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in security engineering, with significant tenure in leadership roles overseeing multi-domain security programs (or equivalent experience)
  • Deep expertise across at least two of the three pillars: application security, cloud security, or offensive security, with working knowledge across all three
  • Proven track record building and scaling high-performing security engineering teams in a fast-paced enterprise technology environment
  • Strong command of cloud security architecture across AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud-native security controls, identity, and infrastructure security
  • Experience leading or overseeing a red team or offensive security program, with a clear understanding of adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
  • Exceptional ability to partner with product and engineering organizations, influencing secure-by-design practices and embedding security without creating velocity drag
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience

BONUS POINTS FOR THE FOLLOWING

  • Experience securing AI/ML workloads, large language model infrastructure, or AI-adjacent attack surfaces
  • Familiarity with security for multi-tenant cloud data platforms at enterprise scale
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, GREM, or equivalent
  • Contributions to industry security research, conference presentations, or open-source security tooling

WHY JOIN OUR SECURITY TEAM AT SNOWFLAKE?

Snowflake's security team sits at the intersection of two of the most consequential forces in enterprise technology: AI adoption at scale and the rapidly evolving threat landscape that comes with it. As the platform enterprises worldwide trust with their most sensitive data, Snowflake's security posture is a competitive advantage, not just a compliance checkbox. That framing changes what this team gets to do and the resources it gets to work with.

Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
