Overview CORT is hiring a remote, full-time Surface Transportation Manager. The Surface Transportaion Manager is responsible for the daily operations of CORT’s surface transportation, managing vendor relationships, analyzing metrics and data, assisting districts with transportation related issues, reporting, and continuous improvement projects. This is a remote position performed from the convenience of your home office #LI-Remote. Salary : $52,000-$62,000 per year. What We Offer Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision) available on the first of the month after your hire date 401(k) retirement plan with company match Paid vacation, sick days, and holidays Company-paid disability and life insurance Tuition reimbursement Employee discounts and perks Opportunity to work alongside a tenured team with career growth and mentorship opportunities Responsibilities • Manage the day-today operations of CORT’s surface transportation: Coordinate with CORT’s districts and surface transportation vendors to troubleshoot issues, ensure loads are being scheduled and picked up on time, and execute on continuous improvement projects. • Metric tracking and reporting: Track, report on, and analyze metrics or expenses such as Cost Per Hundred Weight (CWT), Cost Per Mile (CPM), Accessorial Costs, Truck Cube Utilization, and On Time Performance. Accountable for meeting or exceeding the Continuous Improvement Roadmap (CIR) goal. In cases where the goal is not achieved, must be able to deliver a clear analysis outlining the root causes and present actionable countermeasures to address performance gaps. • Processes ownership and training: Maintain transportation processes and provide training to employees in the field on how to execute processes such as utilizing vendor portals for shipping needs. • Continuous improvement: Help to identify, and own continuous improvement initiatives or strategies within the department. Analyze data, draw conclusions, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to improve process flows, introduce new technologies, or implement new strategies. • Project management: Manage short and long-term projects. Manage timelines and deliver results according to established standards and deadlines. Provide regular updates on the status of projects and present findings to relevant stakeholders. • Maintain industry knowledge: Stay abreast of industry news, current events, and trends that impact transportation in order to serve as the subject matter expert for Truckload (TL, Partial Truckload (PTL) Less than Truckload (LTL), and Intermodal (IMDL). • Collaborate within the transportation department: Participate and contribute to regular operations calls, quarterly business reviews, and team meetings. • Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred Minimum 2-3 years experience in transportation industry required; experience as a transportation analyst or transportation supervisor preferred Previous experience working for a transportation/logistics provider or 3PL is preferred Previous experience working in transportation operations or corporate transportation required Deep understanding of transportation industry and modes of surface transportation required Experience participating on project teams as a team member or leader required Proficient in Microsoft office required About CORT CORT, a part of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, is the nation's leading provider of transition services, including furniture rental for home and office, event furnishings, destination services, apartment locating , touring and other services .
