Our mission is to execute R&D projects funded by governments around the world and support the realization of innovation at Rakuten Mobile. We work closely with internal and external stakeholders, both domestically and internationally, to support cutting-edge R&D from various perspectives, including technical, managerial, and operational aspects.

Our team is responsible for finance and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of research and development projects above. The role involves extensive communication with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, providing opportunities to gain broad knowledge and experience. Additionally, by overseeing the overall project operations, team members can develop valuable skills in organizational management and project coordination.

Job Duties

Be responsible for supporting the end-to-end operation of research and development projects conducted by Rakuten Mobile with government funding, from the application stage to post-project follow-up, from the perspectives of finance and administration.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders

  • Managing project budgets and actual performance

  • Monitoring and reporting on project progress

  • Preparing and managing contracts and grant application documents with government agencies

  • Managing financial risks related to the project

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in collaborating with a team to manage or complete projects

  • Experience in coordinating and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience in managing and analyzing data using tools such as Excel and financial management software

  • Proven ability to adapt to changing environments and situations while successfully completing tasks

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • Excellent time management skills

  • TOEIC score of 600 or higher

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in applying for and managing government grants and subsidies

  • Experience in contract management, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts

  • Experience in project planning, progress management, or risk management

  • Experience in coordinating and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders, including international partners

  • Experience in analyzing financial or project data and preparing reports

  • Knowledge and experience in finance and budget management

  • Knowledge and experience in research ethics and compliance operations

  • Holder of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Bookkeeping Grade 2 Certification

Languages:

English (Overall - 3 - Advanced), Japanese (Overall - 4 - Fluent)
