Job description
Plymouth State University Physical Plant seeks a professional, experienced building trades technician to perform carpentry, general and preventive maintenance services, inspection, repair, fabrication, re-roofing, and alteration of college property.
Duties/Responsibilities
(45%)
Perform repairs and maintenance tasks in minor electrical, plumbing, painting, building and mechanical trades, requiring basic skills but not a license or journeyman experience. Includes but is not limited to: window/window hardware/screens, light bulb replacements, floor tile, repair faucets, plugged drains, install shelving, repair/replace window shades, install bathroom accessories, install and remove window air conditioning units. Handle emergency repairs in designated areas. Work according to computerized work order assignments, completing work orders to maintain records.

Perform new construction within buildings, including but not limited to: working on floors, ceilings, walls, roofs, porches, partitions, moldings, window sashes, framework, framing (wood & metal), white/black/bulletin boards, doors, built-in bookcases, desks, and counter tops, etc. Includes repairing & installing dry walls, ceiling/floor tiles, flooring, flashing, insulation, shingles, and other materials. Inspect, maintain, and repair roofs, gutters, and porches, including winter maintenance to prevent snow and ice damage. Prepare estimates and material lists. Maintain inventory of supplies.

Report to work under emergency conditions to repair buildings/structures damaged due to adverse weather conditions. Respond to after-hours emergency calls for all duties listed above.

Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
High school graduation and four years of experience in carpentry/property maintenance-related building trades or vocational school graduation and two years of experience in one or more of the building trades.
Required Licenses & Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment of the trade.
Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of the job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to climb to the top of buildings and in confined spaces to perform work.
Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.

Compensation Pay Range:
