JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced and tech-forward Construction Manager to oversee the deployment and operation of our construction robots on utility-scale solar sites. As our on-site lead, you will bridge the gap between advanced robotics and traditional construction by serving as the primary liaison between our team and our solar EPC partners. You will be responsible for integrating our robotic workflows into the EPC’s master schedule, managing site logistics, and ensuring our robotic systems operate safely and efficiently alongside human crews. The ideal candidate has strong traditional construction management experience—particularly with heavy machinery like pile drivers—and the communication skills necessary to seamlessly interface with external project managers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- EPC Liaison & Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact between our robotics operations team and the solar EPC's site management. Ensure seamless integration of robotic workframes into the overall project schedule and daily site activities.
- Robotic Workflow Management: Oversee the daily tasks assigned to on-site construction robots. Ensure the site is properly prepped, materials are staged appropriately for robotic handling, and work is completed to the EPC's quality standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols, particularly focusing on safe human-robot interaction on a busy construction site. Handle daily safety checklists, lead tailgate meetings, and ensure compliance with both company and OSHA regulations.
- Logistics & Equipment Support: Manage site logistics related to our robotics fleet, including staging areas, charging/fueling logistics, and coordinating the delivery of materials that the robots will process. Provide hands-on assistance when necessary to prevent bottlenecks.
- Progress Reporting: Track the daily output and efficiency of the robotic systems. Maintain detailed daily logs and communicate progress, site conditions, and potential integration blockers to both our internal engineering team and the EPC.
CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING & ADAPTABILITY
- "Out of the Box" Thinking: Thrive in the unpredictable environment of a live construction site by coming up with creative, on-the-fly solutions to keep both robotic and human crews moving forward.
- Dynamic Logistics: Quickly assess and adapt material handling strategies, such as determining the most efficient staging areas for solar modules when site conditions, weather, or EPC schedules suddenly change.
- Collaborative Troubleshooting: Work proactively with EPC customers and site superintendents to resolve spatial conflicts, scheduling overlaps, or integration blockers with innovative, win-win solutions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager, Site Superintendent, or similar role in the commercial or utility-scale solar industry.
- Deep understanding of how solar EPCs operate, including their scheduling, workflows, and site management practices.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills; ability to act as a "translator" between tech-focused robotics operators and traditional construction crews.
- Strong understanding of construction safety protocols and hazard prevention.
- Tech-savvy with an enthusiasm for integrating automation and new technology into traditional construction environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Heavy Machinery Expertise: Direct experience operating or managing advanced heavy construction machinery, particularly pile driving equipment or automated trenchers.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Previous experience introducing new technologies, tools, or operational software to a construction site.
