Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Lead Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in managing costs for construction projects, ensuring financial efficiency and contractual compliance.

  • Prepare and analyze cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment
  • Conduct on-site measurements and quantity take-offs to verify project progress and costs
  • Manage change control processes, including additional works notifications and purchase orders
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of subcontractor payment certificates
  • Collaborate with the finance team on internal and external forecasting and accruals
  • Maintain a database of accredited subcontractors and oversee the procurement strategy
  • Manage green claim income, liaising with legal representatives and loss adjusters when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and internal policies related to commercial processes
  • Prepare detailed reports on project costs, variances, and financial performance
  • Support the Commercial Manager in achieving commercially driven objectives and monitoring key performance indicators
  • Promote continuous improvement within the organization and implement effective corrective and preventive measures
  • Advise colleagues from other departments on commercial issues relevant to their work
  • Evaluate and control key suppliers and subcontractors to ensure project efficiency
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar capacity
  • Minimum of HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent
  • MRICS, MCInstCES status or equivalent is highly desirable
  • Proven experience in quantity surveying, preferably in Civil Engineering and Infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of main forms of contract, sub-contracts, and procurement options
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and quantity surveying software (Planswift/CostX, CCS, Buildsoft etcs)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience in implementing commercial management functions, processes, and procedures
  • Familiarity with risk management processes and bidding procedures
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Dubai and the UAE
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
