Overview Provides technical support to Cherokee Nation departments by installing or modifying hardware, software, peripherals, and upgrades. Troubleshoots and repairs reported computer problems. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Associate's degree from 2-year college or technical school in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Database Management; or two years (60 credit hours) coursework from 4-year college or university; or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT An additional six months related experience is required. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation Underwriting rating. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must possess an in depth knowledge of typical computer computer software packages such as MS Windows XP or Later and MS Office 2003 or later. Must also have an in depth knowledge of common computer hardware problems. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, and climb or balance.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Performs initial installation and upgrades of hardware on computer systems and peripherals. Troubleshoots and repairs problems in hardware and software operations on computer systems and peripherals. Maintains an inventory database and repair database for all computer systems, including hardware, software and peripherals. Installs, configures, and evaluates software and hardware on computer systems and peripherals. Installs pre-approved, standardized software, drivers, and firmware. Answers inquiries in person and by telephone concerning system operations. Replaces defective or inadequate software packages. Diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems. Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation. Performs minor repairs to correct problems based on knowledge of system operations. Analyzes and provides hands-on support for moderate to complex technical inquiries. Receives and reviews trouble tickets and details of assignments. Determines the appropriate technical area or vendor to resolve issues and coordinates with other technical areas as needed. Makes recommendations for process improvements towards implementation, maintenance, and support of equipment and software. Maintains and protects confidentiality and employee information. Instructs user on use of equipment, software, and manuals. Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
