Overview Provides supervision and instruction to children in early childhood classroom. Develops and implements lesson plans and daily schedules; maintains all applicable licensing and accreditation guidelines; assesses children’s learning and development and coordinates services and communicate regularly with families. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS • Child Development Associate Credential; Certificate of Mastery in early childhood, child development; or 18 college credit hours in early childhood, child development, human and family services, elementary education, family and consumer science or other related field • One (1) year of experience working with adolescents, volunteer work, teaching or coaching. COMPETENCIES • Basic computer skills • Ability to build strong working relationships • Strong verbal and written communication • Ability to lead, mentor, and coach others • Customer service mindset • Ability to hold strict confidentiality • Strong organizational skills • Meticulous attention to detail PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, taste or smell, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. • Possess or ability to obtain Entry Level Child Care Training (ELECT) within 90 days of employment. OTHER REQUIREMENTS • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. Book time with HR Recruiter ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Develops and implements lesson plans and daily schedules in accordance with guidelines to ensure children are productive at all times. • Maintains all applicable licensing and accreditation standards which includes maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment in the classroom. • Supervises and directs Early Childhood teachers in daily activities. • Assesses children's learning and development and adapts care plan to child's specific developmental needs. • Provides appropriate guidance and support to children. • Coordinates services and communicates regularly with families regarding the health and development of the child and family needs. • Collaborates with the Family Service Worker by providing input on the child's development to help coordinate case management services. • Maintains all applicable records. • Preforms cooking and meal preparation as needed. • Performs other duties, tasks, and services consistent with this position as assigned.
