Geotechnician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Geotechnician to join our team in Sodankylä, Finland. As a Geotechnician, you will play a crucial role in conducting geotechnical investigations, collecting and analyzing soil and rock samples, and providing valuable data for various construction and environmental projects.

• Conduct field investigations, including soil and rock sampling, in-situ testing, and site characterization
• Perform laboratory tests on soil and rock samples to determine physical and chemical properties
• Operate and maintain various geotechnical testing equipment and instruments
• Collect, record, and organize field and laboratory data with precision and accuracy
• Assist in the preparation of geotechnical reports, including data analysis and interpretation
• Use specialized software for data analysis, mapping, and computer-aided design
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and other team members on project planning and execution
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during field work and laboratory activities
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all field and laboratory activities
• Assist in the calibration and maintenance of geotechnical equipment

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field
• 2-3 years of experience in geotechnical field work and laboratory testing
• Proficiency in soil and rock sampling techniques and laboratory testing procedures
• Experience with site investigations and field testing methodologies
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and local geology in Finland
• Proficient in using data analysis software, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and CAD software
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Ability to work efficiently and stay organized in both field and laboratory settings
• Good physical fitness and willingness to work in various outdoor conditions
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites
• Health and Safety certification (e.g., OSHA or equivalent)
• Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of Finnish is a plus
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
