The MLM has two main roles, The first one is to be the medical and scientific referent face of Biogen on the field within its defined dedicated geographic area in its country to inform HCPs and establish medical and scientific dialogue around Biogen’s medical and scientific interests based on HCPs request of interest to ensure optimal and best use of Biogen medicines for patients benefit, In this role, should respect the completeness and transparency of data according to Biogen’s compliance and ethics : Fair and balanced data presentation
The second role is to proactively contribute, enrich and execute the medical strategy in collaboration with her/his management.
This role is non-promotional and committed to comply with local regulation including the « Charte de l’information par démarchage ou prospection visant à la promotion des médicaments » and deontological dispositions and with Biogen’s ethics and compliance guidance.
This important role develops medical scientific presentations for face-to-face scientific meetings and symposia during congresses, engage in discussions with scientific and medical experts to gather insights through interactions and advisory boards, identify opportunities to generate clinical or fundamental scientific projects to address identified unmet needs and inform clinical care practice knowledge that will benefit to patients in relevant therapeutic areas.
Strong and recognized ability to collaborate cross functionally (within the affiliate including with Value&Access, Clinical Operations, Marketing/Commercial teams and at the Regional/Global Medical Level), effective capability of excellence in execution and clinical and scientific expertise are critical competencies for this role. Specific aspect in this role is to ensure and perform excellence in execution of the medical operational plan.
MLM key responsibilities
- Ensure aligned medical scientific communication to external stakeholders
- Develop, initiate and execute Ad board strategy
- Understand the overall health care environment and be an expert in clinical practice/science in its assigned disease area
- Generate systematic and structured medical insights via VEEVA for consolidation at the regional medical level
- Coordinate SRA/IITs in the assigned geographic area
- Build-up a strong Thought leaders’ scientific engagement plan
- Plan and execute country specific medical educational activities and scientific meetings and symposia
- Generate and adapt medical material for relevant external engagement
- Participate in internal trainings within the therapeutic area
- Adapt locally the medical strategy and tactics’ plan
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILTY
- Develop and execute medical tactical plan according to the approved medical strategy
- Develop, and update medical scientific content to ensure aligned medical scientific communication to external stakeholders
- Prepare, manage Symposia at national congresses (Program and speakers management)
- Provide medical input into sales and marketing strategies
- Validate promotional material as appropriate
- Share medical expertise by providing medical information training support to internal stakeholders (including, but not limited to, regional medical groups, MSLs, Sales representatives, and other field-based representatives)
- Execute medical operation in accordance with the approved medical plan
- Liaise with key internal stakeholders to help develop, secure approval for and implement IITs, SRAs and CST
- Contribute and appropriately support CST execution and performance
- Interaction with Key medical experts (KMEs) and the HCPs involved in the therapeutic area
- Initiate, implement and monitor regional scientific project in adequation with the medical strategy and in cross functional cooperation, in respect of the regulatory, Biogen compliance and French Health care environment requirements.
- Contribute to the initiation of approved IIT and all related follow up activities
- Organize medical meetings, conferences, round tables, and speaking services in regional scientific meetings following medical information requests solicited by HCPs
- Upon HCPs request inform and share the regulatory approved Product Risk management Plans
- Manage scientific data information needs by establishing long-term strategic relationships/ dialogue with KMEs / investigators to build product awareness and best use of Biogen’s product for patients benefit.
- As all Biogen’s employee, Collect and report to Pharmacovigilance Unit, all known adverse event including in the frame of Risk management Plans of biogen products
- Report medical insights via VEEVA and provide feedback to the local & regional/Global Medical team on regular basis as appropriate
- Gather unmet medical needs to inform medical Strategy
- Be an active member of Medical team and partner cross functionally
- Providing medical training to Biogen employee as appropriate
- Participate to the oral message evaluation during situation role’s play of the employees in charge of promotional activities as required by the « Charte de l’information par démarchage ou prospection visant à la promotion des médicaments »
- Acquire and maintain the highest level of expertise & scientific acumen on the disease environment and the therapeutic area by attending relevant congresses, reviewing the literature on a regular basis and ensuring information/insight gathering on competitive ongoing trials (through Clinicaltrials.gov for example)
- At least 2 years’ experience in a medical field role in industry
- Scientific integrity – Capability to maintain an exemplary level of scientific expertise allowing pertinent and up to date interactions to answer the needs solicited by HCPs

The Medical Liaison Manager (MLM) is reporting to the Therapeutic Area medical Lead within the country medical department.
The incumbent is committed to contribute to the enrichment and execution of the medical strategy as approved by the local country medical organization in concordance with the global medical strategy.
The role could be based in Paris or in the North-West of France.
