VDC Technician

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 3D Modeling:

Creating and updating detailed 3D models of electrical systems using BIM software.

• Layout Assistance:

Facilitate communication between field and BIM Technicians by reviewing field markups and ensuring all the information needed for modeling is being captured.

• Model Coordination:

Integrating design information from various disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) into the 3D model. 

• Clash Detection:

Identifying and resolving spatial conflicts or clashes between different building components using clash detection tools. 

• Constructability Reviews:

Evaluating the feasibility of construction based on the 3D model and providing feedback to improve the design. 

• Construction Documentation:

Generating drawings, schedules, and visualizations from the 3D model to support construction planning and execution.

• Collaboration:

Working closely with VDC project managers, engineers, supers and construction PMs to ensure alignment between digital designs and on-site realities.

• Supporting Project Teams:

Providing 3D visualizations, clash reports, and other information to aid decision-making and project execution.

• Travel:

About 50% of time traveling, with the possibility of extended periods of time stationed at a job site.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience using Navisworks.
• Sound understanding of electrical construction methods and terminology, building codes, and industry standards.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to analyze and interpret electrical design information.
• Problem-solving skills to address clashes and constructability issues.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage single tasks effectively and meet deadlines.

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Electrical construction experience.
• Understanding of BIM principles and workflows desired.
• Experience with the use of 3D modeling software.
