Job description

Mapjects is seeking an analyst or economist in fuels and energy

Areas of interest related to engineering and economic evaluations and market assessments of
advanced fossil-fueled generation systems are:

  1. Assessment of economics, experience and markets for advanced fossil energy technologies.
  2. Impact of variables such as coal type, fuel prices, environmental criteria, tax incentives, and penalties on technology and fuel selection.
  3. Risks and market opportunities for technologies, including their environmental performance and CO2 capture characteristics.
  4. Technical feasibility, capital cost, and operating impact of advanced amine-based post-combustion capture systems. Analysis of advanced coal plant deployment options.
  5. Status and technical and economic impact of current fossil-fueled power generation projects, both domestic and foreign.
  6. Regulatory and legislative compliance strategies for power generation companies with coal-based generation assets.
  7. Analysis of CO2 regulations on fuel markets and operational flexibility requirements.
  8. Technology readiness, particularly as it relates to demonstration readiness and, related, analysis of hurdles thwarting technology readiness and options for overcoming technology advancement barriers

The Mapjects candidate shall be able create reports for data  that will be used to facilitate internal screening of technology options and conducting initial feasibility studies that assess the economics, operating performance, technological risk, and market prospects of advanced fossil-based electricity 

generating technologies
