Job description

1 Year Contract Job Opportunity


Coordinate, and supervise the testing and documentation of the results for new and existing components and trucks in all product lines of Daimler Trucks NA.
Report test results, project status, and prepare formal & informal test reports.
Interface with suppliers, DTNA Purchasing/Materials Procurement/Manufacturing Engineering/Product Engineering personnel to identify, analyze, and resolve issues encountered during testing.
Operate and calibrate specialized test equipment.  Ability to problem solve electrical and mechanical issues with test equipment preferred.  
Interpret and understand product regulations and compliance requirements of: Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Test Methods (ASTM), Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), as well as Daimler specific test procedures.
Provide creative and technically-feasible solutions for development and benchmark tests not covered by standard procedures. 
Design and guide in the fabrication of test fixtures necessary for prototype testing. 
Interface with Corporate and Manufacturing Engineering personnel to determine the most effective test procedure and data needed to properly evaluate new and current production products.
Evaluate state-of-the-art developments in the vehicle test industry and apply the latest advances.

A BS degree in mechanical engineering or MET with a minimum of 2 years related experience is required. Ability to be well organized, detail oriented, capable of efficiently multitasking, and focused on continual personal growth required. Ability to be professional and have excellent verbal and written communications skills required. Ability to work as a team player committed to team development and product quality required. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access required. An understanding of automotive technology, electrical fundamentals, analytical problem solving, pneumatic and hydraulic systems is preferred. An understanding of PLC's and ladder logic programming or general computer programming is highly preferred. Working knowledge of data acquisition systems (such as SnapMaster, National Instruments, Ncode) preferred. Previous laboratory experience is preferred as well as hands on ability with small tools and parts.
