This is Doctronic's first technical recruiting hire. You won't be inheriting a process — you'll be building one. You'll work directly with engineering leadership and the CEO to define how we attract, evaluate, and bring in exceptional AI and engineering talent. If you've ever wanted to own a function from scratch at a company doing something that genuinely matters, this is it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own full-cycle recruiting for Senior AI/ML Engineers, Backend Engineers, and other technical roles from sourcing to offer close
- Build and run a proactive sourcing strategy to reach passive candidates — especially those working at the frontier of AI research and applied ML
- Partner with engineering leads to deeply understand role requirements, technical signals, and what “exceptional” looks like at Doctronic
- Design and iterate on our recruiting process, candidate experience, and employer brand — from scratch
- Develop pipelines for contested, hard-to-find talent: LLM engineers, clinical AI specialists, agentic systems builders
- Track metrics, manage your pipeline in an ATS, and report on funnel health to leadership
- Represent Doctronic at NYC tech and AI events, building our reputation as the team serious engineers want to join
MUST-HAVES
- 5+ years of technical recruiting, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML or applied ML roles
- Proven track record closing senior AI engineers in a competitive market — people who had other offers
- Ability to hold a substantive conversation about model architectures, LLM fine-tuning, agentic systems, and inference pipelines
- Experience building recruiting infrastructure at an early-stage startup (no playbook, no coordinator, no excuses)
- Strong sourcing instincts — you know where the engineers who never apply are, and how to reach them
- Based in New York; this role is hybrid onsite (in office 3 days a week)
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience recruiting for healthcare tech, clinical AI, or regulated-industry engineering teams
- A network in NYC’s AI and ML engineering community
- Prior experience as the first or second recruiter at a high-growth startup
- Familiarity with Python, FastAPI, or ML frameworks — enough to read a GitHub profile intelligently
