Why This Role Matters
As a Managing Consultant, Civil and Environmental Engineer in the Pacific Northwest, you will lead civil and remediation engineering aspects of ERM’s projects that protect human health, restore the environment, and enable sustainable redevelopment.
This position can be based in a local ERM office with hybrid status or fully remote if 100 miles away from an ERM office.
What You’ll Bring
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or closely related discipline.
4+ years of consulting experience with increasing responsibility in site remediation and civil design including grading, drainage, and stormwater management design to support remedial and closure objectives.
Experience supporting or leading remedial design from site investigation through implementation, including development of design packages (30%–100%) with reports, drawings, technical specifications, and opinions of probable cost.
Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (environmental, geotechnical, construction, and drafting) to support design development, permitting, and implementation.
Experience working within state or federal remediation frameworks (e.g., CERCLA, MTCA, solid waste closure programs).
Working knowledge of digital design tools and data-driven approaches used to support civil and remedial design (e.g., Civil 3D, HydroCAD, or similar platforms), with ability to direct and review work rather than perform all drafting directly.
Proven ability to manage projects and lead multi-person teams.
Strong communication, strategic thinking, and mentoring skills.
Ability to support client relationships and contribute to business development through high-quality technical delivery.
Ability to travel for site visits and client meetings.
Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within one year.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review design deliverables, including engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and opinions of probable costs.
Manage and execute civil and remedial design tasks or projects, including scope, budget, and schedule tracking.
Provide leadership in staff development, performance management, and retention.
Support business development through proposal preparation, client relationship management, and cross-selling ERM’s services.
Contribute to technical innovation and share knowledge across ERM’s global network.
For the Managing Consultant, Civil and Environmental Engineer position, the anticipated annual base pay is $97,890 – $132,573 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range.
