What you'll do
Database Operations & Reliability
Administer and support production, non‑production, and DR databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Azure SQL, etc.).
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and restore strategies meet business SLAs/RTO/RPO.
Proactively monitor database health, capacity, and performance to prevent incidents.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for database‑related incidents and drive permanent fixes.
Performance & Optimization
Tune SQL queries, indexing strategies, memory, and storage for optimal performance.
Analyze workload patterns and recommend architectural improvements.
Support database scalability for increasing transaction volumes and data growth.
Drive database automation for provisioning, patching, monitoring, backups, and schema deployments.
Security & Compliance
Implement and enforce database security controls, including encryption, access management, auditing, and vulnerability remediation.
Ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Partner with Cyber Security teams on risk remediation and audits.
Cloud & Modernization
Design and support cloud database solutions (Azure), including migration from on‑prem systems.
Evaluate and implement PaaS vs IaaS database strategies.
Support modernization initiatives such as database consolidation and cloud optimization.
Collaboration & Leadership
Act as L3/L4 escalation for complex database issues.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Vendor DBAs and support teams.
Review and approve database designs, changes, and release artifacts.
Documentation & Standards
Maintain up‑to‑date documentation for database architecture, runbooks, and operational procedures.
Assist with new DBMS technology evaluations and implementations.
Define and enforce database engineering standards and patterns.
What you bring
8+ years of hands‑on experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments.
Strong expertise in one or more RDBMS platforms:
Oracle / SQL Server / PostgreSQL / MySQL (or equivalent)
Deep understanding of:
High Availability and Disaster Recovery
Backup and recovery strategies
Performance tuning and capacity planning
Experience supporting mission‑critical production systems with 24x7 availability.
Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure).
Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.).
Solid understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management).
Nice to Have / Preferred
Experience in SRE or DevOps‑aligned environments
Cloud certifications (Azure database or architecture certifications)
Experience with Kubernetes‑native databases.

Our typical hiring range is between $64,000.00 and $106,000.00 per annum. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
