Job description
The position ensures engineering‑compliant, cybersecure connectivity of machines and production systems and the integration of machine and process data into Digital Factory and MES solutions.
It combines software development from an engineering perspective with operational responsibility to guarantee stable, standard‑compliant and supportable production software solutions worldwide.
- Engineering, implementation and validation of standardized machine interfaces
- Integration of machine & process data into Digital Factory / MES / visualization solutions
- Definition and rollout of standard machine data profiles (availability, OEE, traceability data)
- Engineering of edge and gateway concepts for data acquisition and preprocessing
- Contribution to Digital Factory rollout packages (T‑Shirt model: S / M / L)
- Development and extension of production‑close software components, e.g. NET / C# applications, database‑based machine data services, interfaces and connectors between OT and applications
- Creation of technical concepts, specifications and engineering documentation
- Execution of integration tests, system tests and go‑lives
- Support standardization and reuse of engineering solutions
- Engineering‑driven implementation of OT‑compliant network topologies
- Support of OT cybersecurity measures: e.g., network segmentation, hardening concepts, firewall implementation (together with network & cybersecurity teams)
- Validation of cybersecure machine and IPC integrations
- Operational support of production‑related software and connectivity solutions
- Advanced troubleshooting (remote & on‑site): e.g., machine connectivity, data flows, edge systems, production software failures
- Program and system analysis to identify root causes and implement sustainable fixes
- Definition and maintenance of troubleshooting procedures, runbooks and documentation
- Support standard software and OS rollouts in shopfloor environments
- Creation of engineering documentation and standards
- Training and coaching of plants and local engineering / IT teams
- Acting as technology partner and consultant within Digital Factories
- Technical contribution in projects as engineering expert
- Ensuring adherence to schedules and milestones
- Supporting cost control and budget compliance
- Degree in Automation, IT Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or comparable technical background with relevant experience
- More than 5 years work experience, 2–3 years in industrial production environments (engineering, connectivity, OT systems)
- Knowledge in IT Manufacturing solutions ; Industrie 4.0
- Analytical skills & problem solving capabilities
- Project Management experience: implemented projects or rollouts in production environments
- Experience working with international plants and stakeholders
