University High , launched Fall 2023, is a Hamilton County Schools (HCS) program for Juniors and Seniors located on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) focused on inspiring the next generation of young leaders to excel beyond their wildest dreams into a fulfilling career by centering our focus on relationships, relevance, and rigor. Via the collaboration between Hamilton County Schools and UTC, University High puts equity into action by equipping students with a deep understanding of how to learn and think critically; to empower and invest in students as stakeholders in their education and their community so that they can actively grow skills and habits along with content mastery to thrive in their learning and community regardless of circumstances. We are looking for equity-minded teachers who have been successful in a traditional school setting but realize that school can be so much more. Instead of a traditional setting, students and teachers get to experience themselves as advisors first, teachers second by supporting students in their passions and interests leading into a successful post-secondary career and lifestyle. Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess effective instruction aligned to Tennessee state standards Design engaging lessons with clear objectives and measurable outcomes Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners Collaborate regularly with colleagues and support staff Build strong, respectful relationships with students and families Create a well-managed, structured classroom environment Participate in ongoing professional development and reflection Link to full Job Descriptions What We’re Looking For: Positive, student-focused educators with strong content and classroom management skills Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities Committed to high expectations and academic achievement for all students Open to feedback, coaching, and continuous growth Experience in Title I or high-need school settings is a plus Passion for supporting the whole child academically and socially Qualifications Bachelor's degree required Valid Tennessee teaching license in 6-12 Mathematics OR current enrollment in an accredited teacher preparation program Compensation & Additional Info: Salary Scale based on education and experience – starting at $50,000.00 Eligible positions may qualify for additional pay under the Differentiated Compensation Plan Benefits Licensure Subject to change.
