Level: P2

OUTGROWN YOUR OWN BACKYARD? COME PLAY IN OURS.

At Columbia, we’re as passionate about the outdoors as you are. And while our gear is available worldwide, we’re proud to be based in the Pacific Northwest, where natural wonders are our playground.

We believe the outdoors is ours to protect and strive to keep our planet healthy. We believe in empowering people to experience the outdoors to the fullest.

And we believe in you.

About the Role

As a Network Engineer within our India Global Capability Center (GCC), you will partner with global infrastructure and cloud engineering teams to operate, monitor, and support Columbia Sportswear’s enterprise, datacenter, and cloud networks. This role is focused on reliable day-to-day operations, incident response, and continuously improving service quality through runbooks and automation.

This role requires strong technical fundamentals, clear English communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones with international stakeholders. You will work alongside senior engineers and network architects to execute standard changes, troubleshoot issues, and help deliver stable, secure connectivity for our global business operations.

The position blends network operations, observability, and automation. You will help create and maintain runbooks, build automations with Ansible and infrastructure as code, and support monitoring and alerting with tools such as LogicMonitor. Experience with Grafana is a plus.

You will also participate in a shared on-call rotation to support critical global network events.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor global network health and respond to alerts and incidents, following established procedures and escalating when appropriate.

  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve runbooks for incident response, standard changes, and recurring operational tasks.

  • Operate and enhance network monitoring and alerting to improve observability across enterprise, datacenter, and cloud environments (e.g., LogicMonitor; Grafana is a plus).

  • Perform day-to-day network administration including configuration changes, validation, and documentation in accordance with change management processes.

  • Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, and application-impacting network issues across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.

  • Develop and maintain automation using Ansible and infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.

  • Partner with senior engineers and architects on maintenance, expansion, and modernization initiatives by executing assigned work and providing operational feedback.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and proposing monitoring, runbook, and automation enhancements.

  • Prepare clear technical documentation for audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.

  • Engage in vendor and circuit provider coordination as needed for troubleshooting and service restorations.

  • Participate in global on-call rotations for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents.

  • Work flexibly with occasional evening or early morning meetings aligned to global time zones.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise, cloud, and/or datacenter networking in an operational or engineering role.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English—both written and spoken—while working daily with international teams.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across network and application layers, with a structured approach to incident response.

  • Demonstrated ability to document procedures and create runbooks that improve team consistency and speed of resolution.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and skill enhancement.

  • Experience working in global teams or distributed engineering environments is preferred.

  • Experience with Palo Alto firewall and SD-WAN products is preferred.

What You Know

  • Hands-on experience building automation using Ansible (playbooks, roles, inventories) and applying infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to network operations.

  • Experience supporting and maintaining multi-site corporate networks and datacenter environments, including routine changes and break/fix work.

  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., LogicMonitor).

  • Ability to create, maintain, and improve operational documentation and runbooks, including validation steps and rollback plans.

  • Solid understanding of network fundamentals and architecture (routing, switching, firewalling) and the operational trade-offs of common designs.

  • Ability to work effectively in a GCC model supporting global technology operations.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with Grafana (dashboards, visualization, and alerting) and related observability practices.

  • Experience working with Arista switches and routers.

  • Professional certifications such as CCNA / CCNP (or equivalent vendor neutral certifications).

  • Experience in cloud networking in AWS, Azure, or GCP with a focus on Azure.
