Are you passionate about expanding access to higher education and preparing the next generation of social workers? The School of Health & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Global invites applications for a dynamic, mission-driven faculty member to join our fully remote academic community beginning August 2026. This full-time appointment is expected at the Assistant Professor level, with the possibility of appointment at the Associate Professor rank commensurate with experience.

General Responsibilities for this position:
In alignment with the University of Massachusetts Global Faculty Manual and the expectations of the School of Health & Behavioral Sciences, the faculty member will engage in curriculum development, service, mentoring, teaching, and other professional contributions that support the mission of the University. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, maintain, assess, and teach online courses within the Social Work programs, ensuring alignment with program outcomes and accreditation standards
- Mentor and support students, adjunct faculty, staff, and other program stakeholders to promote student success and program quality
- Engage actively in field education processes, including supporting students in securing, navigating, and successfully completing fieldwork placements in collaboration with community partners and agencies
- Assist in the coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of field placements to ensure alignment with CSWE competencies and program expectations
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations to expand and sustain high-quality field placement opportunities
- Participate in service to the discipline, profession, and institution, including committee work and community engagement, both internally and externally
- Demonstrate professional and collegial conduct that fosters mutual respect, trust, transparent communication, and appropriate confidentiality with faculty, staff, and university leadership
- Contribute to ongoing program development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned in collaboration with the Dean, consistent with faculty role expectations outlined in the Faculty Manual
Required qualifications:
- Earned Doctorate (PhD, DSW, or closely related field) in Social Work or a related discipline from an accredited institution; ABD candidates may be considered with degree completion by start date.
- Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE accredited program
- Minimum of two (2) years of post-MSW professional practice experience in social work.
- Demonstrated experience in field education, including supervision, coordination, or instruction in practicum/fieldwork settings.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with, support, and mentor students in securing and successfully completing fieldwork placements, including collaboration with community partners and agencies
- Experience teaching in higher education, preferably in online asynchronous modalities.
- Commitment to student-centered teaching and supporting a diverse adult learner population
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and delivering current, market-relevant, and engaging curriculum, assessments, and learning activities in an online-first LMS.
- Experience applying data-informed approaches to enhance student success and retention.
- Ability to engage collegially and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and professionals across disciplines.
- Committed to cultivating a workplace culture grounded in respect, openness, and constructive dialogue.
Preferred qualifications:
- Involvement in related professional and academic associations.
- Current licensure as a clinical social worker (e.g., LCSW) or equivalent.
- Experience serving in a field director, assistant director, or field coordinator role within a CSWE-accredited program .
- Demonstrated success developing and maintaining community partnerships to support student field placements .
- Familiarity with competency-based education and assessment aligned with CSWE standards.
- Evidence of scholarly, professional, or community engagement activities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, support, and train adjuncts in an online environment.
The hiring range for this position is $81,375-$88,522 annually in addition to a non-discretionary annual supplement of $5,000 for service as Assistant Field Director. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.
