The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
For this role, Solventum is seeking a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to join our growing Cloud Platform Engineering team. You will play a key hands‑on role in the design, implementation and optimisation of our AWS cloud platform, enabling reliable, secure, and scalable environments for business‑critical workloads.
You will work closely with application, security, and platform teams to build and operate CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure using IaC and improve operational reliability. Your strong practical experience with AWS services, cloud‑native and serverless technologies, and DevOps best practices will directly contribute to platform stability, faster delivery cycles, and continuous improvement of our cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities
- AWS Infrastructure & Platform Engineering:
Design, build, and operate reliable, scalable, and secure AWS infrastructure to support cloud‑native and containerised applications. - Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
Develop, maintain, and optimise infrastructure using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation to ensure consistency, automation, and auditability. - CI/CD Pipeline Engineering:
Build, enhance, and support CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools to enable automated build, test, and deployment workflows. - Automation & Reliability:
Implement automation using Python and shell scripting to improve deployment efficiency, environment provisioning, and day‑to‑day operational tasks. - Cloud Security & IAM:
Implement IAM roles, policies, and access controls following least‑privilege principles, including SSO/federation patterns in multi‑account AWS setups. - Monitoring & Operations:
Configure monitoring, logging, and alerting using CloudWatch, AWS Config, and related tooling; respond to incidents and perform root‑cause analysis (RCA). - Serverless & Cloud-Native Services:
Build and operate serverless workloads using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and event‑driven services where appropriate. - Cost & Performance Optimisation:
Identify and implement cost optimisation and performance improvements aligned with AWS best practices and business usage patterns. - Collaboration & Delivery:
Work closely with application developers, QA, and security teams to enable smooth releases and stable production environments. - Governance & Standards Compliance:
Follow organisational AWS governance patterns (e.g. Control Tower guardrails, tagging standards, Service Catalog products) and contribute to continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- 6–9 years of overall experience with 4+ years hands‑on experience as an AWS DevOps / Cloud Engineer.
- Strong hands-on expertise with core AWS services:
EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, KMS, SSM - Practical experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for microservices or cloud‑native applications.
- Solid hands-on experience with CloudFormation and/or Terraform in production environments.
- Good understanding of IAM, SSO, and AWS security best practices in multi‑account environments.
- Proficiency in Python and/or shell scripting for automation and tooling.
- Experience supporting production workloads, including on‑call rotation, incident handling, and RCA.
- Familiarity with cost optimisation, tagging strategies, and resource governance in AWS.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with global stakeholders across time zones.
- Exposure to AWS Control Tower, Service Catalog, or Landing Zone setups.
- Basic experience with containers (ECS/EKS).
- AWS Certification (Associate or Professional).
