Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Technician 3 to join our System Design Verification (SDV) team. In this role, you will support system‑level validation and interoperability testing for NVMe storage products by assisting with testbed setup, execution of validation tasks, data collection, and issue documentation.

This role is ideal for a technician with good hardware handling skills, and the ability to follow defined test procedures while working closely with engineers and senior technicians.

  • Execute assigned system‑level validation and interoperability test cases under guidance from engineers or senior technicians across Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS) and Windows environments.
  • Assist in building, configuring, and maintaining testbeds, including physical servers, JBOD/JBOF systems, PCIe add‑in cards, and OS images.
  • Perform basic hardware setup tasks such as cabling, drive installation, BIOS configuration, and firmware flashing following documented procedures.
  • Collect system logs, dmesg outputs, and test results to assist in triaging system‑level issues.
  • Run standard validation, performance, and stress tools (e.g., fio, nvme‑cli, smartmontools) according to test instructions.
  • Support engineers by reproducing issues using established test flows and reporting consistent failure behavior.
  • Help maintain lab organization, track test assets, and ensure systems are powered, cabled, and ready for testing.
  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent hands‑on experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Linux command line and basic Windows administrative tasks.
  • Fundamental understanding of PC/server hardware concepts (PCIe, NVMe drives, BIOS/UEFI).
  • Familiarity with system logs and basic troubleshooting techniques.

Experience:

  • 1–3+ years of experience in a hardware validation, lab, system integration, or engineering technician role.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures, execute repeatable tests, and document results accurately.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior staff.

Preferred

  • Prior experience working in a validation or test lab environment.
  • Familiarity with server platforms from major OEMs (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Supermicro).
  • Exposure to storage technologies or NVMe‑based products.
