Job description
**This is a Full Time position at 40 hours per week for our Urology practice to assist in cases at McHenry and Huntley hospitals. Start time between 7am-7:30am and ending between 4pm-5pm.**
The Surgical First Asst HR reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
This position is a clinically competent Surgical Assist who works under the supervision of the surgeon in delivering safe and effective care to the patient during the intraoperative period.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively interacts with the patient and health care team members, while maintaining the Surgical Department standards.
- Assists the surgeon under the direction of the surgeon with the safe delivery of care during the intra-op phase of care.
- Assists the OR team with the set-up and take-down of the Operating Room prior to and at the end of the surgical case.
- Surgical Assistants with dual training/certification - SA/CST - will support the OR team in the role of CST when no SA assistance is needed.

Required:
- Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program upon hire and receive Surgical Assistant Certification within 6 month of hire.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred:
- Recent Hospital experience, 0-2 years, and/or previous practice experience.
