Position Summary The Facility Technician is an experienced tradesperson who supports the daily functionality, safety, and presentation of the overall R&D facility. This role ensures the building systems run smoothly, workspaces remain ready for use, and Colleagues experience a reliable, well-maintained environment. As part of the Facility team, the Facility Technician is accountable for preventive maintenance, room readiness, general repairs, occasional vendor coordination, and first‑response support for facility issues. Responsibilities Universal Accountabilities Teamwork Passion Change and Innovation Adaptive Thinking Achieving Results Promoting Safety Specific Accountabilities Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections and safety checks for life safety systems, electrical and power safety, structural and building integrity, equipment and devices, and operational time-based tasks Space setup and workspace readiness, including rooms are set up for special occasions or one-off meetings, installing furniture, minor touchups, simple locksmithing, general maintenance requests, assembling/disassembling furniture, and anchor furniture General Facility support including but not limited to: Warehouse support, trash removal, e-waste coordination, lab/office cleanouts Supplies and operational support through cafeteria supply checks and reorders, company store coverage, Dock backup support Grounds and environmental response as the first point of contact for addressing blocked or snow-covered walkways, downed branches and pest control coordination Support the Facility Safety effort by: Playing a significant role on the Emergency Response Team Perform training for Contractor Compliance safety, Fire Safety, Scissor Lift Rescue, and Elevator Rescue Participate in Lock Out Tag Out program What we are looking for Required Skills and Experience High school graduate with formal skilled trades training in a technical school or formal apprenticeship Outstanding troubleshooting and communication skills Solid computer skills; must be able to efficiently, effectively, and clearly: Communicate through email (Microsoft Outlook) Leverage information searching on the Internet Generate Word documents, Power Point presentation, and simple Excel spreadsheets Procure project materials with a credit card and clear expenses Ability to prioritize routine tasks and unexpected facility issues Trained and proficient in the use of standard shop tools. Ability to interpret shop manuals, schematics, and blueprints Proactive self-starter who demonstrates initiative by identifying needs and independently planning and carrying out solutions Ability to talk, hear, see, stoop, bend, twist, possess manual dexterity, and lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis Preferred Skills and Experience 3–5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a skilled trade (electrical, HVAC, carpentry, mechanical, or general maintenance) Working knowledge of life‑safety systems, including emergency lighting, eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, and exit alarms Experience in performing preventive maintenance on building systems, tools, and equipment Familiarity with basic electrical troubleshooting, GFCI testing, and low‑voltage devices (badge readers, emergency phones, etc.) Comfort operating lifts, ladders, and other facility equipment (scissor lift certification preferred) Familiarity with warehouse or dock operations, including material handling and e‑waste processes Working Relationships The Facility Technician reports to the Facility Coordinator. The individual will also routinely collaborate with other shop technologists, lab technicians, engineers, managers, scientists, and Facility Contractors. Work Environment The Westlake Ohio facility is a Research and Development laboratory for Batteries, Flashlights, Automotive Appearance Chemicals, and Automotive Fragrance products This position reports Monday through Friday, day shift Come join us! Total Rewards Package The salary range for this position is USD $48,000.00/Yr. - USD $58,000.00/Yr. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
