Position Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on Application Programmer – Lead (Lead Developer) to provide technical leadership across modernization and O&M for a federal application portfolio. You will lead developers, provide architecture guidance, oversee code quality, and serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a development team (including assigning/prioritizing work, establishing standards, and conducting code reviews).
  • Provide architectural guidance and ensure solutions meet quality, performance, and security expectations.
  • Drive modernization and sustainment of mission applications; support continuous integration and release readiness.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Management and stakeholders to align technical priorities with mission needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and development issues; mentor developers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong lead development experience in enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction, enforce coding standards, and ensure delivery quality.
  • Experience with Agile delivery and tooling (e.g., Jira-like tools) and leading Scrum activities.

Preferred / Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Modern Java stack and frameworks, containerization, and CI/CD experience (e.g., Java 11/17+, Spring, Docker/Kubernetes, Jenkins/GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with emerging AI capabilities (LLM integration, RAG pipelines, agentic orchestration frameworks).
  • Cloud platform certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP) and/or AI/ML certifications preferred.
