Job description

APM Terminals

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be apart of our journey.

What We Can Offer

At APMT Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

  • Hands‑on experience maintaining critical mobile container‑handling equipment
  • On‑the‑job learning in a safety‑focused, process‑driven environment
  • Opportunities to build skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out maintenance, repairs, and modifications on reach stackers, empty handlers, forklifts, trucks, and related equipment
  • Diagnose equipment breakdowns and perform corrective repairs to minimise downtime and maximise availability
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance in line with OEM standards and safety regulations
  • Repair defects raised through examiner defect lists and inspection reports
  • Complete work orders, confirmation slips, and maintenance records accurately
  • Follow HSSE rules, safe working procedures, and housekeeping standards
  • Work shifts and standby duties to support 24‑hour terminal operations

What We Are Looking For:

  • Continuous improvement mindset: curiosity about equipment reliability and commitment to safe, quality workmanship
  • ND, HND, BSc, or Trade Test in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 3–5 years’ experience as a mechanic in ports, mines, steel, or manufacturing environments
  • Experience working with mobile equipment such as reach stackers, empty handlers, and forklifts
  • Basic electrical knowledge and ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Willingness to respond to emergency repairs and work shifts
