About Gigs

At Gigs, we're building the operating system for mobile services—a platform that lets tech companies embed global connectivity into their products effortlessly.

Just as Stripe lets any business add a payment button in seconds, Gigs empowers platforms to weave in connectivity—bridging the traditional world of telecom with modern tech. From fintechs launching mobile services to HR platforms offering work phone plans, we automate provisioning and remove telecom complexity.

Our team of around 150 people across the US and Europe, backed by nearly $100 million in funding from Ribbit Capital, Google, and Y Combinator. As one of the fastest-growing tech companies, bringing together early-stage engineers, product builders, and business athletes from companies like Stripe, Airbnb, and Shopify. We’re tackling deep technical and regulatory challenges to make connectivity truly seamless.

If you’re driven by curiosity, creativity, and the chance to shape the future of telecom, we’d love to hear from you.

Things We Care About

We are building in a highly complex space and tackling a massive problem. We want people who lean in when things get hard.

  • Speed. We move and we ship. We set bold deadlines and treat every week like it matters.
  • Ownership. If you see something broken, fix it. We don't wait for permission.
  • Customer Obsession. Our customers' product is our product.
  • Ambiguity. We're building frontier technology in a complex domain. You'll need sound judgement and good instincts to make decisions without complete information.
  • First principles. We don't ask how things have been done before. We ask why they were done that way at all.

The Role

We're looking for a Financial Controller who sees AI as a fundamental rethink of how financial control gets done rather than just a productivity tool. This is not a role for someone who wants to run the same playbook they ran at their last company. It's a role for someone who has looked at the traditional controllership function — close, consolidation, intercompany, technical accounting, controls — and concluded that most of it can and should be reimagined from first principles.

You'll co-own financial control across a multi-entity group spanning 10+ legal entities across North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific, with new entities being spun up as we scale. The structure is genuinely complex: multiple functional currencies, intercompany flows that touch revenue recognition and a mix of direct employees, contractors, and EOR arrangements.

For the right person, this is the perfect opportunity. You'll take our controllership function from where it is today to public-company readiness — and you'll do it with a mandate to build it the way it should be built, not the way it has always been built. Few controllers get to define what an AI-native finance function actually looks like in production, at scale, under real audit scrutiny. You will. If you want a role that will compress a decade of career development into a few years, and leave you as one of a small number of people who have actually done this, this is it.

What you’ll do

You will be accountable for the integrity of our financial records across the group. That includes:

  • Own the day-to-day accounting and P2P across our multi-entity structure
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual close — and aggressively shortening the cycle
  • Group consolidation, intercompany elimination, and FX translation across 10+ entities
  • Co-design the internal control environment, including the design and documentation work required to be IPO-ready
  • Statutory reporting and local compliance across all operating jurisdictions
  • Tax compliance coordination, transfer pricing documentation, and cross-border structuring questions in partnership with external advisors
  • Support the company’s international expansion plans
  • Operationalize technical accounting positions under US GAAP (e.g., ASC 606 and ASC 718) and the IFRS equivalents where relevant for statutory reporting

What we are looking for

We expect AI to be embedded across the financial control function — not as a side project, not as an "innovation initiative," but as the default way work gets done. We're not interested in saving a few hours on reconciliations. We're interested in fundamentally compressing close timelines, eliminating entire categories of manual work, raising the quality and depth of our analysis, and building controls that are stronger than what a manual process could ever produce. Concretely, we expect you to drive AI deployment across areas, including:

  • Transaction processing and coding — AP, expense classification, intercompany allocations, with AI handling the long tail and humans reviewing exceptions
  • Reconciliations — bank, intercompany, subledger-to-GL — moving from manual matching to AI-assisted anomaly detection
  • Flux and variance analysis — first-draft commentary generated against source data, reviewed and refined by the team
  • Control testing and documentation — AI generating audit trails, test populations, and exception narratives
  • Close coordination — orchestration of dependencies, automated status reporting, exception escalation

The perfect candidate brings the following to the table:

  • Demonstrated work deploying AI, automation, or significant tooling changes inside a controllership or accounting function — not slideware, actual production deployments
  • The disposition to challenge how things are done, including by us
  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency group, ideally one that was either pre-IPO or recently public
  • Comfort with ambiguity, with operating in jurisdictions you've never operated in before, and with making defensible judgment calls
  • Direct experience leading a Big 4 audit relationship as the company-side principal is a plus

This is not a role for a controller who wants to oversee a stable, mature process. The processes here are still being built. Some are good, some are not, and some don't exist yet. You will be writing the playbook, not inheriting one. If this gets you excited, we’d love to talk.

Work At Gigs

At Gigs, we value in-person collaboration. We believe the best ideas, decisions, and relationships are built when teams spend meaningful time together, and our culture is designed around that belief. We support flexibility where it makes sense. Some focused work can be done remotely, and not every role or week looks the same. You should expect regular time in one of our hubs, as well as occasional travel for team workshops, customer meetings, and Gigs Republic, our bi-annual company off-site. Our offices are designed to feel like home-inspired workspaces, with plants, thoughtful tools, and small, tight-knit teams that make collaboration feel natural, energizing, and effective.

At Gigs, we believe in rewarding excellence. We offer competitive compensation and stock options because we see you as a true partner in our growth. We also provide stipends for your home office or work setup, a budget for learning and development to fuel your career, and of course, a free phone and international data plan
