Job description

The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for partnering with business leadership to enable the Group’s growth strategy and objectives through disciplined people planning, organisation design, and execution excellence.

The HRBP aligns the full employee lifecycle to current and three‑year Group and divisional objectives, ensuring optimal workforce structures within gross profit (GP) constraints, a strong high‑performance culture, and a compelling Employer Value Proposition (EVP).

The HRBP operates as a trusted advisor, embedding values‑led leadership, supporting execution, and ensuring the organisation is sustainably structured to deliver 25% year‑on‑year growth, high retention, and leadership depth.

You are responsible for
Inclusive of, but not limited to:

Business & People Strategy Alignment:

  • Align people strategy to PE objectives and Balanced Scorecard (BSC)
  • Translate Group and divisional strategies into actionable workforce plans
  • Ensure alignment between business objectives, workforce capacity, and capability
  • Provide trusted advisory support to leadership on people decisions

Organisation Design & Workforce Planning:

  • Design and maintain optimal operating structures to deliver strategy
  • Develop and maintain 3‑year rolling workforce plans
  • Conduct staff calculations aligned to productivity and GP targets
  • Support scalability through flat, broad organisational models

Job Architecture & Role Definition:

  • Develop and maintain:
    • Clear Job Descriptions with defined expectations and outcomes
    • Job Specifications incorporating “Chippy” attributes
  • Ensure role clarity and accountability across the organisation

Talent Attraction & Recruitment:

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to align recruitment with workforce plans
  • Support development of current and future talent pipelines
  • Contribute to hiring strategies based on business needs
  • Develop, review, and maintain interview guides and scoring metrics to ensure consistent, objective, and effective candidate assessment.
  • Promote value- and attribute-based selection approaches
  • Lead recruitment approaches that:
    • Test for attributes and values
    • Apply a “hire slow if necessary” mindset
    • Balance speed, quality, and sustainability

Induction & Onboarding:

  • Ensure structured:
    • Company and product induction
    • Job‑specific onboarding for rapid productivity
  • Maintain consistent onboarding standards across the Group

Succession Planning & Career Pathing:

  • Develop and manage succession plans for key and critical roles
  • Define and embed clear career paths linked to retention
  • Integrate succession planning with performance and development data

Reward, Remuneration & Communication:

  • Support the design and implementation of reward frameworks
  • Ensure remuneration competitiveness against industry, not direct competitors
  • Support clear communication of reward and EVP offerings

Performance & High‑Performance Culture:

  • Embed a High Performance Organisation (HPO) culture
  • Support effective performance management practices
  • Coach leaders on performance, feedback, and accountability

Labour Relations & Compliance:

  • Lead and manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), ensuring structured, fair, and outcome-focused processes
  • Oversee misconduct and disciplinary matters, providing expert guidance and ensuring procedural fairness
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable labour legislation and internal policies
  • Mitigate organisational risk through consistent, equitable, and defensible people practices

Culture, Engagement & Wellness:

  • Design and implement purposeful culture and engagement campaigns
  • Analyse survey data and drive action planning
  • Promote wellness initiatives that support sustainable performance

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Deliver accurate and insightful people reporting
  • Analyse trends across retention, performance, engagement, and cost
  • Provide actionable feedback to leadership to inform decisions

Exit Management:

  • Oversee exit processes and ensure compliance
  • Analyse exit data and trends to inform workforce and retention strategies
  • Support knowledge transfer and succession continuity

 

Package & Remuneration:

Salary: R42 000 CTC per month

You'll need a customer-first mindset and the following skills to succeed in this role:

  • Diploma / BCom / BA Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Management or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in HR, Organisational Development or Business (advantageous)
  • Valid knowledge of South African Labour Legislation
  • 3 years HR experience or equivalent role
  • Proven experience in high‑growth, performance‑driven environments
  • Experience supporting flat, broad operational structures
