An exciting, brand-new opportunity has become available for an Employment Relations Coordinator, to join our small, collaborative ER team. This is a chance to step into a role where you can make a real and much-needed difference, helping to strengthen how we deliver employee and industrial relations support across Hato Hone St John.
You’ll provide essential administrative and coordination support across a broad range of ER activities, ensuring the team operates efficiently and keeping things running smoothly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provision of effective administrative and coordination support across ER processes, projects, and initiatives
- Support the maintenance and updating of employment documentation and templates
- Coordinate activities relating to collective bargaining negotiations and union engagement
- Organise meetings, forums, and travel arrangements; prepare agendas, take minutes, and track actions
- Assist with preparation, management, and filing of documentation for mediations and legal proceedings

We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
You will bring:
- Previous experience in HR, Employee Relations, or an in-house legal environment
- Experience working in a unionised workforce environment (highly desirable)
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgement in decision-making
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage a range of stakeholders
This is a permanent part time role working 20 hours per week - we can be flexible as to how the hours are worked, but preference is 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Offices are at our Ellerslie office Auckland or the Justice Precinct in Christchurch with plenty of working from home (minimum 2 days in the office).
