About the Role

Assist the review and recommendation of internal rating and credit limit proposals submitted by Business Unit analysts.
Provide coverage on assigned credits. Articulate credit views and trade ideas to the wider Fixed Income community.
Contribute to the Primary Market Centre of Excellence through engaging sell-side syndicates to achieve high primary market allocation.
Other regular and ad-hoc tasks as assigned from time to time.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Group Credit in the review and recommendation of internal rating and credit limit proposals submitted by Business Unit analysts, including the review of the accuracy of internal ratings.
  • Provide coverage on assigned credits upon initiation and on an ongoing basis as required. Articulate credit views and trade ideas, including future rating trends, to the wider Fixed Income community via multiple channels, including Bloomberg research platform, e-mails and regular calls.
  • Close engagement with bond syndicates to ensure high primary market allocation in Asian dollar bond issuances, including early indication of interest, post deal follow-up, analysis of allocation performance by bank and recommendation of remedial actions for syndicate banks who underperform in terms of allocation.
  • Foster strong working relationships both within the company and with external parties such as issuers, buy and sell side analysts and rating agencies, and sell side syndicates.
  • Undertake regular and ad-hoc Fixed Income assignments as required, including statistics for the monthly Group Investment Performance Meeting. Provide timely responses to senior management queries.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in credit analysis. Experience in rating agencies is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge in the China market. Understanding in China’s Local Government Financing Vehicles is an advantage.
  • Solid experience in interacting with market participants as well as with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong aptitude in alpha generation, financial modelling, and data analysis skills  
  • Original and independent thinker with a growth mindset.
  • A good team player with the ability to work well with a broad spectrum of people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bloomberg.
  • CFA Charterholder is an advantage.
