Job description

The role serves as the single client point of contact for sustainability and environmental protection, ensuring project KPIs and targets are defined, delivered, and compliant with client standards (energy, embodied carbon, water, waste, and green building accreditations like LEED/BREEAM).

  • Engage client stakeholders to define sustainability goals; act as the primary client contact for all sustainability matters.
  • Support PM in developing the project-specific Sustainability Delivery Plan (SDP); provide guidance on sustainability processes and governance to project teams.
  • Attend project meetings and review Contractor responses to ensure client sustainability requirements are correctly included.
  • Cover all sustainability aspects: facility/process design, operational & embodied carbon, water, waste, and energy.
  • Ensure Design Contractor receives all relevant sustainability specifications (EHS standards, energy modeling guides, sustainability checklists).
  • Facilitate stage reviews of the Global Engineering Sustainability Checklist; coordinate compliance with client sustainability standards.
  • Lead Sustainability Target Assurance Reviews for each KPI at project stage completion.
  • Support verification analysis (carbon, water, waste, LEED/BREEAM) and ensure stage-gate reports demonstrate core objectives.
  • Gather all required data for client KPI tracking dashboard across all project stages.
  • Work with PM to establish an agreed sustainability performance evaluation methodology.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in sustainability/environmental protection within construction or engineering projects.
  • Deep understanding of client sustainability goals (Ambition Zero Carbon), internal standards/tools, and external best practices (BREEAM, LEED).
  • Proven experience with LEED/BREEAM and carbon/energy/water/waste tracking.
  • Familiarity with operational/embodied carbon analysis, energy modeling, and Sustainability Delivery Plans (SDP).
  • Strong collaborator and practical problem-solver with a detail-focused, results-driven mindset.
  • Proficient in English as a working language.
