Job description

The Head of Group Accounting and Reporting is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of Optiver’s consolidated financial reporting.

The role sits within Group Finance, reporting to the Global Lead of Finance, and operates in a high-performance environment requiring strong technical judgement, clear ownership, extensive experience in the financial services industry, and the ability to translate complex accounting matters into practical outcomes.

What you'll do

  • Be accountable for Group-wide financial reporting compliance, ensuring the integrity of consolidated financial statements and alignment with IFRS requirements.
  • Own the Group technical accounting framework, setting policy and ensuring consistent application across jurisdictions.
  • Partner with Finance, Risk, Legal, and business leadership to assess new standards and complex transactions, and provide clear technical accounting guidance.
  • Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including the annual report and interim reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS and internal policies.
  • Be accountable for the Group month-end and quarter-end close processes, maintaining a high-quality, controlled reporting environment and driving consistency across regions.
  • Own the external audit relationship, acting as the primary point of contact, leading the Group audit process, aligning on technical positions, and resolving issues pragmatically.
  • Represent Finance at Audit Committee meetings, clearly articulating key accounting matters and judgements.
  • Co-lead Finance Transformation initiatives at Group level, driving the modernization of finance processes, controls, and automation, including AI.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting for Optiver Holding B.V., ensuring compliance and alignment with Group reporting requirements.
  • Lead and develop the Group Accounting and Reporting team, fostering ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Who you are

  • Someone with deep expertise in IFRS and consolidated financial reporting within a complex, international environment, including strong technical accounting capability across financial instruments and fair value measurement.
  • Strong analytical skills and judgement, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and balance technical rigor with pragmatic decision-making.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing senior stakeholders, including external auditors.
  • Professional accounting qualification required.
  • Robust experience in the Financial Services industry is a must
  • Team spirit and strong ability to work in a globally set up organization with dispersed teams residing around the world
