Join our Network Operations team as a Fibre Optic Specialist , where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the stability, resilience, and future growth of Melita’s national fibre backbone. This role blends hands-on fieldwork with technical leadership, giving you the chance to directly influence how our network evolves and delivers for thousands of customers. In this role, you will: Oversee and enhance Melita’s Fibre Backbone : Drive capacity growth, resilience, and ensure seamless operations across the network. Lead on field and desk operations : From updating GIS maps and preparing schedules to supporting technicians in the field with splicing and network testing. Ensure network excellence : Use advanced diagnostic tools such as OTDR to troubleshoot, identify, and resolve issues including cable damage, signal degradation, and system faults. Design and future-proof infrastructure : Work with engineers to plan robust, scalable, and standards-compliant fibre optic networks. Mentor and support teams : Train, supervise, and inspire fibre technicians, ensuring skills growth and high-quality work standards. Champion safety and reliability : Conduct inspections, enforce compliance with industry standards (GPON, WDM, ITU), and ensure customer impact is minimised during major operations.
