Currently, around 4,000 employees are working at CARIAD on the digital transformation of the car. CARIAD is working intensively on the software and technology platform for Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The first vehicles based on PPE will be the electric Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron. At the core of CARIAD is the development of the unified and scalable software and technology platform E³ 2.0 for all Group brands. E³ stands for ‘end to end electronics architecture’. The new software and technology platform is built from scratch and will be used first at the end of 2024 in Artemis, the lighthouse project of Audi. Job Description:

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated and an experienced Requirements Engineer with strong automotive domain expertise to lead end-to-end OTA feature development and cross-functional alignment for next‑generation OTA platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Work closely with development teams to clarify requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Drive agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and reviews.
  • Ensure timely delivery of features, updates, and improvements with high quality.
  • Bridge the gap between stakeholder needs and technical execution by eliciting, analyzing, and documenting precise system specifications.
  • Monitor product performance and user feedback to continuously enhance the platform.
  • Coordinate with security and compliance teams to uphold data security and privacy standards.
  • Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to inform feature development and innovation.
  • Act as the vital link between our clients and engineering team, transforming complex business visions into clear, actionable technical requirements.
  • Facilitate communication across teams and escalate impediments to ensure smooth development flow.
  • Support rollout planning, pilot testing phases, and rollout impact analysis.
  • Manage regulatory compliance

Technical Expertise – 3+ years

  • Basic good in Requirement writing for OTA
  • Over-the-Air (OTA) Update Systems architecture
  • Microservices architecture and RESTful APIs design and management
  • Security standards for OTA updates—encryption, signing, authentication
  • Software update protocols such as HTTP(S), MQTT
  • Database and storage solutions relevant for OTA update metadata
  • Monitoring, logging, and telemetry platforms for backend health
  • Requirement management and agile tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Understanding of device firmware, embedded software, and compatibility issues
  • Knowledge of OTA constraints such as delta updates, rollback mechanisms

  • Product ownership and backlog management for complex backend platforms
  • Agile, Scrum, and SAFe frameworks for program execution and scaling
  • Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, QA, security, and operations
  • Risk assessment and mitigation strategies specifically related to update failures and security vulnerabilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset to prioritize features based on impact and feasibility
  • Ability to synthesize customer feedback, telemetry data, and technical constraints into actionable product improvements
  • Documentation skills to create clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications
  • Change management and release planning for OTA rollout phases and canary deployments
