Job description
Job Title: Data Analyst
Career Level: D2
Introduction to role:
Are you ready to turn complex safety data into clear decisions that protect patients and sharpen performance? Do you want your dashboards and analyses to be the signal that drives timely action and regulatory confidence across a global operation?
As a Data Analyst focused on Patient Safety, you will design, automate, and analyse critical metric and performance reporting that improves intake quality, timeliness, and compliance. You will build enterprise-ready Power BI dashboards, develop robust Excel analyses, and extract and structure data obtained from Argus and its linked systems. Your work will help teams see issues sooner, focus resources where they matter most, and consistently meet critical timelines.
Based in India and reporting to a QA Manager, you will join a multi-cultural team that challenges the status quo by simplifying processes, scaling automation, and putting data at the heart of decisions. Your impact will be felt across R&D and operations—converting real-time performance insights into better throughput, stronger quality, and ultimately safer outcomes for patients worldwide.
Accountabilities:
- critical metric Framework and Governance: Define and maintain target and service-level metrics for AE intake (e.g., intake cycle time, first-pass yield, data quality/validation rates, backlog and aging, volume by source/channel, and timeliness against regulatory thresholds). Document metric definitions and ensure consistent application to create a single source of truth for operational decision-making.
- Invent, build, and keep updated interactive Power BI dashboards and recurring reports (daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly). They display case intake performance, trends, and variances for operations, quality, and leadership collaborators. Create robust Excel models for ad hoc analysis and deep dives, turning patterns into clear actions.
- Data Extraction and Integration: Extract, transform, and load data from Argus and additional clinical risk management tools (and related sources such as intake queues, quality review tools, and workforce management files). Develop repeatable pipelines with parameterized datasets and scheduled refreshes to ensure reliable, timely reporting.
- Automation and Standardization: Implement automated refresh schedules to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy. Standardize report templates and calculations across teams to drive consistency and scale.
- Root-Cause and Discrepancy Evaluation: Analyse performance drivers and anomalies in AE volumes, processing times, and quality. Translate insights into prioritized recommendations for throughput, quality, and resource allocation.
- Service Level Monitoring: Track SLAs and compliance-critical metrics (e.g., intake within defined regulatory timelines). Provide early-warning indicators and concise critical issue summaries for at-risk metrics to enable proactive intervention.
- Cost Tracking and Budget Support: Maintain operating cost trackers (e.g., staffing, systems, vendors), perform monthly budget vs. actual reconciliations, and prepare clear variance commentary and monthly financial summaries in coordination with Finance and Patient Safety leadership.
- Forecasting and Workload Management: Support monthly/quarterly forecasts for case volumes and staffing needs. Produce scenario analyses that inform capacity, overtime, and vendor utilization decisions.
- Stake-holder Collaboration: Partner with case intake leads, quality/compliance, pharmacovigilance operations, and analytics/IT teams to align metrics, refine requirements, and prioritize reporting enhancements that deliver the most value.
- Process Documentation: Create and maintain SOPs/playbooks for data sourcing from Argus and associated systems, transformation logic, report definitions, and refresh schedules to ensure continuity and audit readiness.
- Compliance and Privacy: Operate within patient safety, pharmacovigilance, and data privacy requirements. Ensure reporting appropriately handles or excludes personally identifiable information and sensitive patient safety data.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in analytics, statistics, information systems, public health, life sciences, or related field; or equivalent practical experience in data/reporting roles.
- Power BI Expertise: Demonstrable experience in building enterprise-ready Power BI solutions, including data modeling, DAX, Power Query, dataflow, row-level security, refresh schedules, and performance tuning.
- Excel Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot-Tables, advanced formulas, data modeling with Power Pivot; basic VBA a plus) used for on-demand analysis and reconciliations.
- Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving with the ability to turn data into clear insights and recommendations; excellent written and verbal communication tailored to operational, quality, and finance audiences.
- Controls & Documentation: Demonstrated rigor in data quality, reconciliation, and documentation supporting audit-ability and compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Superb communication skills, both written and verbal, with comfort in collaborating effectively with internal and external groups across different regions.
- Ability to work in a team environment / works closely with team members.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Patient Safety Systems: Hands-on experience extracting and structuring data from Argus (cases, workflow, statuses, timestamps) and familiarity with corresponding clinical safety management software or intake tooling.
- Pharmacovigilance Context: Working knowledge of PV processes, case intake workflows, and regulatory timelines; familiarity with quality review metrics and inspection readiness.
- Scripting: Experience with basic Python or R for data wrangling and automation.
- Financial Acumen: Exposure to cost tracking, simple budget reconciliations, and variance analysis in an operational setting.
- Forecasting Methods: Experience with volume forecasting and capacity modelling techniques.
- BI Governance: Familiarity with content governance, semantic models, and deployment pipelines in Power BI Service.
