Job description

Telemundo Arizona is looking for a creative, bilingual digital journalist and innovator who is passionate about storytelling, understands Latino audiences, and thrives in the fast-paced world of news. This person will be a key player in shaping how we connect with our viewers across digital, mobile, and social platforms.

The ideal candidate is not just a content producer; they’re digital strategists, storytellers, and community connectors who know how to make news resonate on every screen.

The Right Fit

You’re passionate about evolving local news for the next generation. You understand how digital platforms, storytelling, and culture intersect, and you’re ready to help Telemundo Arizona be the destination for Latino audiences in Phoenix and Tucson who want meaningful, trustworthy, and engaging news experiences.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead digital storytelling: Create and produce original digital content; articles, videos, short-form storytelling, explainers, and digital-first features that engage and inform our audiences.
  • Shape the audience experience: Oversee Telemundo Arizona’s home page and key sections of TelemundoArizona.com, ensuring a compelling mix of content tailored to Latino audiences in Phoenix and Tucson.
  • Drive engagement across platforms: Collaborate with news, marketing, and social media teams to grow audience reach and interaction on social media, YouTube, OTT, and emerging platforms.
  • Champion innovation: Bring creative ideas for storytelling formats, new ways to use data or visual tools, and opportunities to connect with audiences in culturally relevant ways.
  • Be audience first: Use analytics, trends, and community feedback to guide coverage decisions and digital priorities.
  • Collaborate deeply: Partner with the newsroom team, producers, and reporters to translate TV content into impactful digital experiences, and vice versa.
  • Own breaking news: Ensure local, national, and international breaking stories are reflected across all platforms quickly, accurately, and engagingly.
  • Amplify community connection: Build trust and interaction through digital initiatives that reflect and serve the diverse Latino communities in Arizona.
  • Oversee content for Streaming / Fast channels and develop strategies that drive growth, audience engagement, and overall platform performance.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience as a digital producer and editor in a news or media environment.
  • Exceptional Spanish-language writing and editing skills with a clear, authentic voice.
  • Strong English comprehension and communication abilities.
  • A deep understanding of Latino audiences and the content that resonates culturally and locally.
  • A keen sense of visual storytelling, from selecting the right image to optimizing videos and headlines for engagement.
  • Knowledge of SEO and AEO best practices, and emerging digital trends.

Basic Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • 1–2 years of experience as a Digital Producer/Editor or similar newsroom role.
  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and news judgment skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Must work on-site (in-person) in Phoenix, AZ.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience working in a bilingual or Spanish-language newsroom.
  • Familiarity with tools like WordPress, Parsley, Adobe Premiere, Canva, or similar platforms.
  • Interest in sports, culture, and community-focused storytelling.
