Commercial Desktop Investigator

Job Location: United Kingdom

Job Type: Permanent

Remuneration: Competitive salary taking into account skills, experience and qualifications

Step into a vital role at Sedgwick as a Commercial Desktop Investigator, delivering tailored fraud prevention across diverse commercial claims.

Sedgwick is seeking an experienced Commercial Desktop Investigator with a strong background in commercial insurance claims to join its Commercial Investigations team. Working within complex claim scenarios, you will deliver structured, proportionate desktop investigations into suspected fraud, ensuring outcomes are clear, defensible and aligned with fair customer treatment.

In this role, you will adopt a tailored investigative approach, reflecting claim type, exposure and policy position rather than applying generic methods. Managing your own caseload, you will assess claims across property damage, theft, fire, liability and business interruption, interpreting coverage, indemnity and financial risk with confidence.

Through planned enquiries, you will conduct structured telephone and video interviews with policyholders, directors and third parties, while gathering and analysing documentary, financial and digital evidence. You will liaise effectively with insurers, brokers, contractors and external agencies where required, ensuring accurate and timely information flow.

Your findings will be presented through concise, evidence-led reports with clear recommendations to support insurer decision-making. You will also prepare outcome correspondence and negotiate claim settlements, challenging exaggerated or dishonest claims using sound judgement.

Throughout, you will maintain compliance with FCA principles, GDPR and internal governance standards, consistently meeting service level expectations.

This is perfect for an experienced investigator who is commercially aware, detail-focused and confident working autonomously on complex insurance claims.

The skills you will have when you apply:

  • Advanced Commercial Claims and Fraud Expertise – Extensive experience across commercial claims handling, investigations, and fraud matters, including property and business interruption within indemnity frameworks.

  • Policy and Regulatory Interpretation – Advanced understanding of policy wordings, insurer expectations, claim lifecycles, and the legislative and regulatory landscape governing commercial claims.

  • Financial Analysis and Loss Validation – Proficient in assessing financial exposure, analysing turnover and trading data, and constructing defensible loss calculations.

  • Fraud Identification and Intelligence Use – Strong capability in recognising commercial fraud indicators and utilising data and intelligence sources to detect inconsistencies and risk.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Interviewing – Credible communicator with well-developed interviewing skills, able to challenge appropriately and manage commercial stakeholders effectively.

  • Reporting, Organisation and Analytical Rigor – Highly organised with the ability to manage complex caseloads, producing precise, audit-ready reports with clear, logical and evidence-based reasoning.

What we’ll give you for this role:
