The Field Service Engineer plays a critical role in supporting DePuy Synthes’ commercial success by delivering high‑quality technical service to customers. This role is responsible for the installation, commissioning, testing, and technical support of medical devices and equipment in customer environments. By working directly with hospitals and healthcare professionals, the Field Service Engineer helps ensure reliable product performance, customer satisfaction, and safe patient outcomes, while representing DePuy Synthes as a trusted technical partner.
Key Responsibilities
Provide on‑site technical service including installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of DePuy Synthes products and equipment.
Deliver technical advice and support to customers to ensure correct and safe use of products.
Diagnose equipment issues, perform corrective actions, and document service activities in accordance with company procedures.
Support commercial and service objectives by ensuring high equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical problems and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Prepare and maintain technical reports, service records, and documentation related to field activities.
Follow all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements when performing field service activities.
Represent DePuy Synthes professionally at customer sites, strengthening long‑term customer relationships.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (required).
Technical certifications or additional vocational training in medical devices or service engineering (preferred).
Experience and Skills
Required:
0–2 years of relevant work experience in field service, technical support, or engineering roles.
Ability to install, test, and troubleshoot technical equipment in customer environments.
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to follow structured service and safety procedures.
Customer‑focused mindset with clear and professional communication skills.
Willingness to work on‑site at customer locations and adapt to varying work environments.
Preferred:
Experience supporting medical devices or healthcare equipment in a commercial setting.
Familiarity with quality systems, regulatory standards, or service documentation requirements.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
Basic understanding of hospital environments and clinical workflows.
Other:
Languages: Portuguese (required); English (professional working proficiency preferred).
Travel: Regular regional travel within Portugal; occasional international travel as needed.
Valid driver’s license required for customer site visits.
Physical ability to handle service tools and equipment as required for field service work.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:
€27,100.00 - €43,815.00
